Magdala

Serie of illustrations for French association Magdala | 12.2023

Since 1986, Magdala has brought together people in precarious and vulnerable situations and others who share their journey with them.

The Magdala Day Centre, located in the heart of the Wazemmes, district of Lille (France), receives around forty people every morning who are living in very precarious conditions, isolated or on the streets.

With the arrival of COVID and its many restrictions, the day centre threatened to close, leaving people in need in an even more precarious situation.
It was decided to maintain a permanent service, run solely by the beneficiaries. A new form of self-management was born.

The purpose of the illustrations is to tell the story of the self-managed day centre, to introduce the project to similar structures in France and Belgium and to publicise the activities of the Magdala project. They were exhibited at the Magdala centre itself in December.
